You Make the Call

Critical Situations

Most hospitals have a nurse nall systems in each OR room which goes unused because:

  • Operation Rooms respond to their own codes
  • Code Blue systems don't provide enough information to define the event
or notify the appropriate teams that are needed based on the event.

Activating the Critical Situation button opens a menu of user defined "Critical Situations" which often occur during a surgical procedure. Each button sends a call to the Target Department: Control Desk, Anesthesia, Main Blood Bank, Lab and Pharmacy.

Call OR

Selecting the Call OR button produces a touchscreen keypad. Key in the target Operating Room's number to open a two -way conversation between rooms. The room being called has hands-free instant communication, and does not have to "answer the call" by doing anything, but speaking back to the caller.

Call Department

This screen is for contacting other Departments and locations within the Surgical Suite. Immediate, direct communication to Pathology, for instance. Direct communication with the Laboratory, or even the Doctor's Lounge, are all examples of being able to increase communication speed between rooms.

Room Status

This button opens a screen populated with other department names or locations for process improvement and elimination of bottlenecks. These call destinations would be to Departments outside of the Operating Suite, which would benefit from having advance notification of the current status inside the OR.

OR Assist

This feature opens an "All-Call" status for the entire network of Staff Terminals. Anyone activating this feature will be able to speak into every room which has a Staff Terminal installed. Instant communication such as this can replace the use of "runners" between OR Rooms, and greatly increase the response time for any request.
