Maternity Solution

The Right Way to Start

Responder 5 is the perfect fit for the Maternity department. The system is far more than just your standard nurse call system. Responder 5 gives nursing the power to "Build your own Buttons." We sit down with each unit nursing manager and listen to your department needs. We then design the system to work around how you do business rather than you changing your system based on how t he nurse call works. Here are just a few example of how Responder 5 is changing the way we think about nurse call systems:

Directed Calling

Responder 5 puts the power of calling the right nurse for the right need into the mom's hands. In the past the new mother was limited to only one red push button on the pillow speaker to call her nurse. With Responder 5 we can now program up to 4 different custom buttons on the pillow speaker. You tell us what they should say and where you want them to call. Here are a few examples:

  • Nurse - Mom calls the main nurses desk if she needs her nurse
  • Baby - Mom calls directly to the nursery if she has questions or wants them to bring their newborn child to the room.
  • Ice Chips - Sends a text message to a nurses aid to help increase patient satisfaction and take some of the workload from the nurse.
  • Pain - The new mother can specifically request help with pain so the nurse knows it's not a typical patient call.

Bathroom Communication

This is the first ever full-audio pull cord designed for the healthcare industry. The stations provides mom with the additional safety and satisfaction of full audio communication to the nurse. The nurse can now talk to mom and address her needs rather than rushing into a room without knowing what the problem is. In the event there is an emergency, the nurse now can listen and inform mom that help is on the way.  When integrated to wireless phones the nurse can communicate to mom on the way to the room to help her.

Rounding

It has been proven in many recent studies that nurse rounding improves patient satisfaction. What if you could create specialized buttons that would remind you to check on Mom? Well now you can with Responder 5. If you can think it we can create it: Here are few ideas that came from the nursing community

Improving the Process

  • Pain Reminders – With the press of a button, nurses set themselves an automatic reminder message to visit the new mother. This increases patient satisfaction and hospital referrals by keeping your staff attentive.
  • Pitocin Reminders – Once the drug is giving to induce labor the nurse must round every 15-20 minutes (depending on hospital policy) to chart the mother's labor progress. This process increases hospital charting accuracy and improves patient satisfaction.
  • Imminent Birth Alarms – Send out notification to the birthing team that they are needed in the room. This eliminates the need for a phone call while increasing patient safety for the mother and her baby by getting the right people into the room for birth.
  • Cleaning Needed Alerts – Send a message to the EVS department covering the floor to clean the room which increases room availability and facility revenue.
  • Transport Needed Alerts – Notifies the transport group to escort the new mother to be discharged from the facility. This allows your staff to save time, make less phone calls, increase room availability, and improve revenue to the facility.
